Studies show that over four million Texans struggle with food scarcity, and according to research, lack of food is linked to many health problems including diabetes and high blood pressure. Many of the affected people are children, and for them food insecurity is especially devastating. To help local families facing these startling situations, and in recognition of National Nutrition Month, Mustang Creek Estates of Sachse will be collecting items for the 5 Loaves Food Pantry in Sachse now through Sunday, April 29. The public is asked to drop off donations Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the senior living community (3900 Ranch Road in Sachse, House C). The 5 Loaves Food Pantry is currently in need of the following items: canned meat, spaghetti sauce, canned tomatoes, ravioli, crackers, pop tarts, cereal bars, pancake mix, syrup and oatmeal. Mustang Creek Estates of Sachse invites the public to drop off donations to help families who would otherwise go without proper food and nutrition.
“When Mustang Creek Estates of Sachse reached out to me and offered to host a food drive I was thrilled,” said Audrey Wallace, director at 5 Loaves Food Pantry. “There are many families in need who will benefit from this initiative, so every donation truly makes a difference. This is such a pleasant surprise, and I am so excited about the generosity of Mustang Creek Estates of Sachse.”
5 Loaves Food Pantry offers different programs for those in need, including a diaper bank, as well as 5 Loaves support group for people to get together, share, and discuss things such as struggles with drugs, alcohol, abuses and emotional pain. The organization partners with local schools to help special-needs students. In addition, they sponsor a 5 Loaves Food Pantry in Mogote, Honduras. This newly formed partnership with 5 Loaves Food Pantry is one of many examples of how Mustang Creek Estates of Sachse always seeks ways to have a positive impact on the local community.
“Having nutritious meals is important for all of us, and it saddens us that not everyone has daily access to food. We are excited to host this food drive and help 5 Loaves Food Pantry provide these much-needed items for local families,” said Sharon Flowers, executive director at Mustang Creek Estates of Sachse. “Our team members and residents look forward to collecting the items, and we encourage everyone in Sachse and the surrounding area to participate and help us make a difference.”
