Sachse’ Author Con 2016 will be held at the Sachse Public Library on May 21st from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  This year the event will feature 28 authors.   There will be seven children’s authors, 7 young adult authors, 10 adult fiction authors ranging from romance to science fiction, and five adult nonfiction authors.   All of the authors will be here to sign and sell their books.   Cash and check are preferred method of payment.     You can check the library’s website at www.cityofsachse.com/library   for a full listing of the authors and their biographical information. 

David Hughes is a new author this year and his publisher is Progressive Rising Phoenix Press, founded and co-owned by another feature author, Amanda M. Thrasher.  Amanda was at the library’s first author con last year.   David   C. Hughes defies the premise that engineers can’t write.  He is the former communications columnist for Lockheed Martin’s National management Association Courier magazine.  His works have appeared in the Dallas Morning News and Fort Worth Star-Telegram.   His most recent works are Ten Little Hiccups, a preschool rhyming book, Melted Clowns which is a story about a little girl named Hannah who likes going to the park.  Melted Clowns is the winner of the 2015 Texas Authors Association Best Book Award for best children’s book ages 7 and up.   For more information on David Hugh’s books, please check his website http://www.davidchughesauthor.com/books. As Chief Executive Officer of Progressive Rising Phoenix Press Amanda assists other authors with their work. She continues to speak at conferences, conducts workshops, and shares her writing process with students of all ages. She writes award winning Children’s and young adult novels.   The Greenlee Project, a novel about bullying, and the recently released Spider Web Scramble have both been named among the best in family-friendly media, products and services by the Mom's Choice Awards® and are Mom's Choice Awards® Gold Recipients.  The Greenlee Project was also awarded the 1st place Young Adult Book Award at the 16th Annual North Texas Book Festival. Amanda Thrasher was born in England, moved to Texas where she resides. Upcoming programs include a special appearance by Ronald McDonald on May 3 at 6:00 p.m. and a Lego workshop on May 10 at 6:00 p.m.  Registration is required for the Lego workshop due to the nature of the program.
